Humminbird 383c Combo Fish Finder and GPS Chartplotter
I needed at least a depth finder for my new boat and after research determined it was just as much effort to install a simple unit as this model with a transom mount tranciever. While I am most often in familiar lakes, I wanted something that would also be good for larger lakes I wanted to explore and didnt know where shallow hazards were. The GPS is nice particularly when wandering about some complex multi-area lakes and figuring out how to get back to the launch. Very easy to use and accurate for finding fish, bottom contour and water temperature. Its also nice to have your speed indicator since the boat's speedo doesnt work under 10 MPH. I was a little concerned about the screen size but found it works perfectly well for my needs and surprized how well the color works. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone with similar needs.

I bought this fishfinder/GPS thinking it would be a great combination, only to find the advertised map of "North America" did very little for us in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The Map shows a total of about 4 lakes in an area containing 1,000's of lakes. Upon contacting Hummingbird they said they could not help me. I offered to send back the unused Fishfinder /no map GPS and pay the difference to move up to a model where you can then spend more money and get maps with better detail. hummingbird has been no help in doing this. No loss to them, more dollars in sales, but no deal. Customer service and satisfaction??????????????

This is an excellent product that exudes excellence at all times. The display is very easy to read and see. The sonar view is very informative and the combination of the dual beams into one view provides very detailed information that can really help you improve your fish catching abilities at all levels. The real time sonar feed combined with the sonar views is also very helpful when dropping jigs on slabs. The GPS feature is also excellent. Its very easy to operate and the basic features are easy to use and operate. The automatic tracking of your course and travel is also very nice so that you can review your fishing adventure and determine ways to improve your adventure to increase the adventureness level.
Installation and mounting was a bit tricky, but thats the case for any transducer transom mount. It just takes a bit of reading and not rushing into anything. I found it to be pretty easy overall, minus the leaks I accidently created with the saw. But thats a different issue really.
I would definately recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good GPS/Fishfinder combo. The menu's are easy to read and use and there is a wealth of features that are really impressive considering the price of this unit.
